FAQs
Must I use a main dealer until my manufacturer’s warranty expires?
You are not obliged to have your vehicle serviced by a main dealer to uphold the manufactures warranty. This is due to a regulation called European Block Exemption which came into force back in October 2003. Here at Volks Autos, our brand trained technicians ensure your service is carried out in line with your manufacturer’s recommended schedule and criteria using manufacturer approved parts. Your service book or digital service schedule will be updated to show your manufacturer that the servicing undertaken meets the requirements.
Can you carry out dealer-level diagnostics?
Yes, at Volks Autos, we offer dealer-level diagnostics for Volkswagen, Audi, SEAT, Skoda, and VW Commercial vehicles. Using the same advanced diagnostic equipment and software as main dealerships, including ODIS (Offboard Diagnostic Information System), we can accurately diagnose and resolve any issues. As a true alternative to a main dealer, we provide transparent service at competitive prices.
What service do I need?
Minor Service: Typically recommended every 10,000 miles or 1 year, whichever comes first.
Minor Service With Pollen Filter: Typically recommended every 2 years or 20,000 miles, whichever comes first.
Major Service: Typically recommended every 4 years or 40,000 miles, whichever comes first.
Please Note:
Service intervals may vary depending on your vehicle’s needs and the specific recommendations from the manufacturer. If you’re unsure about the type of service your vehicle requires, don’t hesitate to contact us. We can access your manufacturer’s technical data, service intervals, and schedules, ensuring you receive the most accurate and helpful advice.
Do you perform a health check on my vehicle during the service?
Our brand-trained technicians will perform a detailed Health Check on your vehicle during your oil change service. This inspection covers various aspects of your vehicle’s health, and the results will be sent directly to your phone, allowing you to see any issues first-hand.
Can only main dealer update my Digital Service Record?
As a registered German car specialist, we have secure access to check and update your service record for all German vehicles and most manufacturers currently using Digital Service Records. Additionally, we can review your Digital Service Record to provide advice on any upcoming service items that may be due, all in line with your vehicle’s manufacturer specifications.
Can you reset my service light once the service is complete?
Yes. We have all the necessary electronic equipment to be able to reset your service light and variable service indicators once we have completed your service here at Volks Autos.
Will you let me know if there is any additional work needed?
We will not proceed with any additional work without your authorisation. If further repairs are needed, your service advisor will contact you with an estimate for the required work.
3rd party warranty – Can I use this at Volks Autos?
Yes, once the fault has been diagnosed by Volks Autos, we can liaise on your behalf with your warranty company, explain the fault we have found and provide them with an estimate for the repair.
Normally, warranty companies work on the basis that the customer pays the garage the total repair fees, and the warranty company then reimburses the customer with the agreed amount. In almost all cases, the warranty company first request the customer to authorise any diagnosis time and costs involved to find the failed component before they advise if it is something they will contribute towards.
Is there any warranty on repairs you carry out?
We source only the highest quality parts from our trusted parts supplier and offer a minimum 12 months or 12,000 miles warranty on all mechanical repairs we carry out.
Do I need to pay upfront?
We will take payment once the work is completed and you come to collect your vehicle. We accept most credit and debit cards or cash. Some special order parts may need to be paid for before ordering.
