Stay On The Road With Hassle Free AdBlue Top Ups
AdBlue is a brand name for what’s technically known as Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF). It’s a solution of distilled water and urea added to many diesel cars. It helps remove toxic substances from the car’s exhaust gases and reduces harmful emissions.
Cars equipped with a Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) system will have a separate filler for an AdBlue tank, often next to the diesel fuel filler or in the boot or under the bonnet. If your vehicle doesn’t have a dedicated AdBlue filler, the tank can only be refilled by a garage such as Volks Autos.
AdBlue solution is automatically injected in small quantities into the flow of exhaust gas, to convert harmful nitrogen oxides (NOx) into harmless water and nitrogen. This then comes out of the exhaust pipe and disperses into the atmosphere.
AdBlue should not be poured directly into the diesel fuel tank as this will cause damage to your vehicle, and need to be pumped out. You should never let your diesel vehicle run out of AdBlue, as this can dramatically reduce its power and cause damage to the engine.
Volks Autos will check your AdBlue levels during your regular service, however many diesel drivers will need to top up the AdBlue at least once between services. It is important to keep an eye on dashboard warnings, particularly for high mileage drivers.
Volks Autos only use branded AdBlue solution which conforms to the highest quality standards.
